A selection of particularly fine drops from Stoney Vineyard—more immediate and easier-drinking than their older siblings.
Stoney Vineyard Rosé 2024
Stoney, the 2024 is a pale, peachy rose-gold in the glass, presaging a voluptuous nose of strawberries, hibiscus and crunchy-apple freshness. The palate is juicy, with a raspberry-led acidity that lingers throughout. Very much a wine that builds in layers as you sit with it, it’s the perfect accompaniment to an afternoon antipasto picnic.
Stoney Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022
After a several-year hiatus while we waited for our new pinot noir vines to grow, the Stoney Vineyard Pinot Noir returns—juicy, fresh and floral. Drawn from a new block at the bottom of the vineyard, the fruit character is bright and light, with fresh raspberries and wafts of baked cherry pie overlaid by floral, almost peachy spice notes. Palate is light but well structured, with skinsy tannins and good supporting acid. A vibrant expression of a promising new block.
Stoney Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
A cabernet sauvignon for those seeking something a little more approachable, the push for increased fruit-weight is evident from the classic cabernet nose (capsicum, cassis, chocolate, blackberry) on. Fine tannin allows for a rich balance on the palate, where ripe blueberries and more winter berries play nice with spice and a good kick of acid. A big, generous wine that promises the excellent long-term maturation Conor sought in the making.
