As they use every variety in the vineyard, Cloth Label wines are always very vintage-driven, and 2017 was our longest ever, with good, cool conditions overall. Each variety (pinot noir, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, a tiny bit of riesling) was fermented individually in oak before blending to build a deep, complex wine that’s still decidedly medium-bodied. Fruit intensity on the nose is excellent, backed by spicier, sweet notes of tobacco, leather and pepper. A soft but consistent acidity anchors a sophisticated, rewarding palate of red fruit, plums and a sweet, surprising vibrance.

Here is one of those complex blends where the whole is more than the sum of its parts: pinot noir/shiraz/cabernet sauvignon/cabernet franc and a squirt of riesling. It's a complex little thing. Sapid morello cherry, juicy plum and redcurrant fruits infused with sweet spice, tobacco, pressed flowers, roasting game, amaro, polished leather and earth. Gentle red fruits with a mineral cadence and an elegant, spiced sour cherry finish.
