Praxis Sparkling Riesling 2019

A toasting wine if ever there was one. The nose brings plenty of oak influence, which recedes and integrates on the palate. A lively bead in the glass carries nicely into the mouth, retaining a nice ticklish fizz of crisp apple, white nectarine (softer, gentler and more refined than typical stonefruit notes), light almond, and a nice floral lily-hyacinth bouquet into the impressively long finish. Tuck some away for an occasion worth a speech and a tipple.

Muse Extra Brut Sparkling 2014

A slightly heavier Pinot noir influence drives this wine, from the mesmerising, medium-full pink colour onward. The vibrant mousse carries astonishing breadth of flavour, with classic Pinot noir notes (cherry, fresh herbs, rhubarb, subtle smoke) beneath a glorious, more traditional floral bouquet, bundled with lively summer fruit and a rich, long-lingering finish. Forbidden Fruit Three Pack

Verdant and herbaceous, the 2017 Sauvignon is all about freshness, lightness, and shades of green. Cucumber, rosemary and melon romp around a bright, grassy nose, with soft, luxurious tannins driving red apple, lemon pith and a slight savouriness across the palate. The light French oak treatment is expressed in a slight toastiness and an abundance of volume and length. Will cellar well, or reward early consumption.

Muse Sauvignon 2017

The Lady returns. Originally made by Peter Althaus as a love letter to his beloved wife Ruth, Lady A was first released in 1996. Since then, Domaine A devotees have awaited the release of what James Halliday called ‘the finest oaked sauvignon blanc’ he ever tasted. As per usual, expect elegance and texture (whereas most sauvignon blancs lead with fruit and acid), aged for three years before release (most Sauvignon Blancs are released young). As with past vintages, the 2017 Lady A takes her cues from Bordeaux. Fermented in French oak barriques, matured on fine lees for twelve months, and then rested in the cellar until ready for release. Lady A 2017

A pale, almost ivory gold in the glass, the 2018 Pinot Gris leads with a floral, daisy-driven nose (nectarine and a flinty minerality in the backseat), and a silky-soft play of texture and character once it hits the palate. Golden Delicious apples, lemon zest, and a pleasing saline note balance nicely against gentle acidity toward the finish, making for an exceedingly drinkable wine that'll pair beautifully with light pasta dishes.

Muse Pinot Gris 2018

This single vineyard Riesling was born from the first vines planted in Southern Tasmania and is a homage to the dry, textural Rieslings of Austria. Expect lovely green citrus fruit characters on the nose and a fleshy palate with mineral like intensity.

Muse Riesling 2017

A delightful tipple. On the nose you'll see hints of oak (but nothing overbearing) and some vanilla cream, before a palate of green papaya and a flinty hit of lemon zest, all lightness and and elegance without being tangy. Pair with something subtle.

Muse Chardonnay 2017

Luminous, luxurious and layered, the 2015 Cloth White is a promise of spring and spice. A bewitching lemon-gold in the glass, the bouquet suggests chai, cinnamon, honeysuckle nectar and peaches, with deeper notes of apricot beyond. The palate balances medium acidity and tannins with an astonishing spread of texture across the tongue, bringing grapefruit pith, cashews and lime skin character before a refreshing finish. Nuanced and exhilarating, it will reward just-below-room-temperature drinking or a good stint in the cellar. Whichever you choose, pair it with Tasmanian seafood for rich rewards.

Cloth Label White 2015

This vintage is a touch lighter than the last, showing many of the qualities you'd normally see in an LDR, with a bit more character—a Medium Dry Red, perhaps. Red-maroon hues on pouring foreshadow the nose: tomato leaf, blood plum and cardamom. The palate boasts a beautiful acidity, and the flavours perfectly straddle the blend of lighter and heavier grape varieties, with fruit-of-the-forest berries and blackcurrants giving way to raisins and dried cranberries. A shining example of the unique terroir of the St Matthias vineyard that'll pair well with Middle Eastern cuisine—or anything with a bit of salt and bite.

Two of our most snazzily dressed bottles, the 2015 Red and White from our flagship Cloth Label series, unite in juicy congress. And for a fraction of the cost: they're usually $110 each, but you can now get both for $150.Get them as a pair, but savour them apart: the Cloth Red is like a picnic at the top of our vineyard hill, after tasting every plot on the stroll up. There's tomato-and-blood-plum bruschetta with a dusting of sumac; pair with anything with a bit of salt and bite. Moorilla’s location and growing conditions tend to produce a heavier, more robust Pinot noir, which we embrace, while still aiming for levity and balance in the finished wine. The 2015 Pinot noir is a fine expression of this, with a medium-red colour (and the faintest tinge of purple), and an elegant, vital tension between deeper, earthy notes (kola, chocolate, dark cherry) and an almost ethereal top end (red summer fruit in particular). Will improve even further with cellaring.

Muse Pinot noir 2015

Surprisingly dark to look at (heavy purples, deep pinks—auberginesque), this is a slightly more savoury, intense take on a Tasmanian Pinot Noir. Sour cherry, vanilla and smoked charcuterie lead the nose, with the cherry carrying through to the palate, where things tarten and spice up a little: pepperberry, hawthorn, redcurrant and cranberry all present before some lifted savoury notes (nods to the Coal Valley, but nothing too heavy) and medium tannins round things out. Pair with pate, terrine, and an open pit fire. Make sure there's some cheese around to see out the bottle.

Praxis Pinot Noir 2018

It’s a classic—the consummate Tasmanian pinot noir. Bright in the glass, the hue is reminiscent of port wine jelly and mulberry, with aromatics of Christmas pudding, black cherry and port-soaked raisins, as well as violet and lilac. The palate is velvety and silken soft with beautifully integrated tannins, structure and impressive acidity providing backbone. Notes of star anise, plum, cranberry and a touch of menthol unite to create an almost blackcurrant pastille-like flavour, and lead to a subtle dark chocolate finish. This is a warming, winter pinot and will pair brilliantly with grilled mushrooms, marinated pork or duck à l’orange.

Ward off the coldest nights with three of the moodiest reds from our wineries. It’s red wine season, and we are here for it. Domaine A Petit ‘a’ 2013 Cold outside. Tomato relish bubbles and thickens on the stove. Almost time for blackberry pie. Moorilla Muse Pinot Noir 2015 Raining again. Deep, dark cherries macerate in a bowl with kola, chocolate and red fruits. Better fire up the oven. Moorilla Muse Syrah 2015 Smoke at dusk. Bonfire blazing. Time for a gunpowder firework crammed with pepper, blackcurrants and nuts.

Moody Reds Pack

An unashamedly cool-climate Syrah (call it shiraz if you like), the 2015 vintage is bold, insanely long, and displays all the finesse and complexity you could hope for. Purple-tinged in the glass, the wine shows plenty of white pepper and an appealing smokiness, layered with ripe, rich fruit and astonishing savoury characters—nuts, spice, graphite, sap—all delivered by fine, chalky tannins and the gorgeous, silken length. Here we have a prime example: it bounces with ripe berried fruit, but then it's layered with gun smoke, graphite, peppercorns, nuts and herbs. Muse Syrah 2015

A fresh, vital take on the classic characteristics of Domaine A, this one leads with lively notes of tomato skins and lily-rose on the nose ('like Nonna's house on relish-making day,' according to some), before a palate of lively berry character (raspberries lead the charge) and an elegant, herbaceous, basil-driven pepperiness. A long finish leaves lingering suggestions of fruit and blackberry pie. The structure is excellent, and the wine will hold up brilliantly after a few years in the cellar.

Domaine A Petit 'a' Cabernet 2013

Rich, deep and dark-maroon to look at, with an intriguing, fruits-and-beasts-of-the-forest nose that runs the gamut from mahogany and sous-bois to dark chocolate-berry sponge cake and a slight, almost animalistic hint of musk, the 2015 Muse Cabernet Sauvignon is a thoroughly intriguing wine. On the palate, the tannins are dense and complex (promising a very long life), with lingering sour cherry, dried berries, and shades of cappucino (plenty of chocolate sprinkles) topped by a slightly-above-medium acidity. Pair it with something spicy in its youth or give it some time to open up in the cellar.

Muse Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Deep Bordeaux-red in colour, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon celebrates the terroir of Stoney Vineyard. Expect mixed spice on the nose with suggestions of new leather and warm earth, and a christmas cake palate laden with cranberries, blackcurrants, raisins and prunes. There's fantastic structure and acidity, too. The 2016 has plenty of medium-term cellaring potential and will go down a treat with rich meats, mushroom and truffles.
